Chocolate Egg

First egg June 2015

One of the Cuckoo Marans surprised us by laying an egg at 19 weeks.  I know it was a Marans by the dark color of the egg. The Marans’ eggs are sometimes called “chocolate” because they are so dark.  Her one-ounce egg is next to Ninja’s two-plus-ounce egg. I’m not sure which one laid the small egg, but I am thinking it might be Annie. She has one of the reddest combs of the Marans.
